SETTING UP

The BEC may be de-selected by cutting the small gauge red wire loop by the battery +ve lead. It is strongly recommended that the BEC circuit is used. An on/off switch may be fitted in the red wire, but keep wires as short as possible. The unit is supplied with a FUTABA type plug. Before plugging the unit in check that the wires are in the correct positions for your receiver. If they are not remove them by carefully depressing the small tab and pulling the lead free. Re-insert the lead in the required position and check that the retaining tab is fully seated. The plug can be carefully trimmed to fit your receiver by filing the plastic tab away. Battery and Motor connectors are left to your preference, Use the best you can afford!

Connections are:
Red - Batt +ve and Mot +ve
Black/coloured sleeve - Mot -ve
Black - Batt -ve

Every time the ESC is turned on it goes through an arming sequence, it will not work until this has been completed.

1. Turn the transmitter on and move the speed stick to the centre position. Connect the speed controller up to the receiver and apply power to the ESC and receiver (at this stage a receiver battery is best but if you have a BEC capable ESC you may use a motor battery but it is not necessary to connect a motor). The indicator on the ESC will light for approximately 1 second., and extinguish for 1 second. This sequence is repeated once more. At this point the ESC is armed.

2. Push the stick forwards. If the indicator lights gradually as the stick is pushed forwards go to step 4

3. The indicator did not light with forward movement of the stick indicating that the transmitter stick operation needs reversing using the servo reverse switch. Turn the transmitter and receiver off, alter the switch and return to step 1.

4. The ESC is now setting up properly. Connect the motor and redo the sequence with the transmitter stick in your preferred off position. The motor will now beep when the LED is lit during the arming sequence, you will then be able to tell if the arming sequence is working without seeing the LED.

Set up can be used for full (bottom to top) or half (centre to top) stick movement on most transmitters. The ESC will usually auto detect which mode to use. When indicator extinguishes for the second time unit will arm only if the transmitter stick is in the null band. The indicator will remain lit until the unit is armed (but the motor will only beep for 1 second).

NB.It is essential that the motor is well suppressed. Use the suppression kit supplied.

THE SCHOTTKY DIODE MUST BE FITTED OR THE ESC WILL BURN UP WHITE BAND TO THE MOTOR +VE

We recommend that you use a safety loop connector in the motor battery positive lead that can be disconnected from outside the model. This can be used to switch the radio on/off when the BEC facility is used.

ELECTRONICS AND WATER DO NOT MIX. GETTING THE ESC WET CAN CAUSE SERIOUS MALFUNCTION AND LOSS OF CONTROL.

DO NOT SHORT THE MAIN FET BANK TO ANYTHING ELSE - DOING THIS WILL CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE AND PERHAPS A FIRE!

The FET's should never be too hot to touch if they are something is wrong! STOP NOW AND CHECK!
